Closing Thursday at 10 a.m. The Pioneer Press’ Tad Vezner reports: St. Paul officials have delivered fliers notifying people living at the Cathedral Hill encampment that they must leave. “ ‘To protect your health and safety,’ the flier told campers, ‘this site will be permanently cleared at 10 a.m. on Thursday, November 15th. You are required to vacate the site and not return.’ ”

Labor Day first, then school. Faiza Mahamud reports for the Star Tribune: “Minneapolis school board members voted Tuesday night to approve a proposed change to the school calendar — moving the start of the school year to the day after Labor Day. The proposed changes would affect the school calendar for the next three years, beginning with the 2019-20 school year.”

Student surge. Isabella Murray reports for the Minnesota Daily: “Dinkytown, where students voted in precincts Ward 3-1 and 3-2, saw 42 and 45 percent of voters turn out in 2014, while 60 and 71 percent turned out out this election, respectively.”

  1. This is the first I have heard of an encampment. What is the story? Is this a protest, or are they homeless people?

  2. So where are the homeless going to go?

I guess “Out of sight, out of mind” is the city’s approach.
